SIA Flexitanks 2020: A Year in Review

2020 was a great year for SIA Flexitanks, we enjoyed growth in all regions with many success stories to appreciate. Take a look back at our Year in Review below.

This was a year like no other with the Covid-19 virus spreading throughout the globe bringing untold havoc to the world of business. While the COVID-19 situation remains dynamic, we have been vigilant in anticipating and overcoming the obstacles it has presented.

Covid-19 – A Year Like no Other

In response to the global pandemic of Covid-19 emergency orders, our teams throughout the world started working remotely. To do our part to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we took all precautions in order to safeguard the health of our employees while minimizing disruptions to our customers.

Since the pandemic hit, SIA have donated several thousand face-masks to our local hospitals and community workers who are the real heroes. This is first and foremost a health crisis, and our thoughts go out to those who have been affected, whether directly or indirectly, by the virus in their communities.

SIA Flexitanks Introduce Static Storage Tanks

SIA Flexitanks were delighted to add a new product to our range of Bulk Storage Products in 2020. Static Storage Tanks are now available to purchase and are suitable for temporary storage of water and many other non-hazardous liquids.

SIA Flexitanks CEO, Damien McClean appeared in numerous local and national news platforms during the Covid-19 lock-down in Ireland.

The Irish Times (Ireland’s National Newspaper) featured the SIA CEO in the article ‘Remote working: The most far-flung workplaces in Ireland‘ discussing remote working and working for clients from one of the most remote places in Ireland. Read the full article HERE

Speaking on his experience in remote working (during the Covid-19 lock-down) from his rural setting in Donegal Ireland, SIA CEO, Damien gave his insight into running his international business – SIA Flexitanks, from home. ”This afternoon I closed a deal from home with a guy in Odessa on the Black Sea to ship sunflower oil. And yet I can be down on Five Finger Strand beach in a couple of minutes.”

New Malaysia Office

Team SIA Malaysia, celebrated the opening of a new branch office in Penang on October 3rd 2020. This major step forward is a testament to the remarkable progress made by SIA Asia.

SIA Flexitanks Approved ILMA Member

November 2020 saw SIA Flexitanks announcing our acceptance as a member the Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association (ILMA). ILMA has been the voice of member companies that produce more than a quarter of the automotive lubricants and three-quarters of the metalworking fluids in North America for customers who use their products to improve performance and increase efficiency.

SIA Flexitanks are recognized as key suppliers of the independent lubricant manufacturing industry in providing bulk liquid logistics for the transportation of lubricant oils in flexitanks – a large flexible container which transforms the conventional shipping container into a safe and efficient bulk liquid transport container.

SIA CEO Interview with FreightWaves

In December 2020, SIA CEO Damien McClean was once again interviewed by FreightWaves in the article Bulk Booze by Sea; Shipping Wine in the time of COVID. FreightWaves are the leading provider of trucking news, media, and analytics. Giving his insight into the bulk booze market of wine during a time of COVID, the SIA CEO spoke  at length about his company’s experiences during the pandemic, describing the changing dynamics in the flexitank industry and how COVID is complicating global supply chains. Looking Toward 2021

2021 is a big year for SIA Flexitanks as we turn 10 years old. After years of consistent exponential growth we have built a stable, profitable global company and we are happy to work with many fortune 500 and blue chip companies.
